حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ سَهْلٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَخَالِدِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ أَنَّهُمَا دَخَلَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْتَ مَيْمُونَةَ فَأُتِيَ بِضَبٍّ مَحْنُوذٍ فَأَهْوَى إِلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ بَعْضُ النِّسْوَةِ أَخْبِرُوا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى
اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَأْكُلَ فَقَالُوا هُوَ ضَبٌّ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَرَفَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدَهُ فَقُلْتُ أَحَرَامٌ هُوَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ لَا وَلَكِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ بِأَرْضِ قَوْمِي فَأَجِدُنِي أَعَافُهُ قَالَ خَالِدٌ فَاجْتَرَرْتُهُ فَأَكَلْتُهُ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَنْظُرُ

English Translation
Khālid ibn al-Walīd narrated that he entered with the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ upon Maymūnah bint al-Ḥārith, and a roasted lizard was presented to the Prophet ﷺ. He extended his hand toward it, and one of the women said: 'It is lizard meat.' So he withdrew his hand and said: 'It is a type of meat I have never eaten.' Khālid said: 'I said: Is it ḥarām?' He said: 'No.' Khālid said: 'So I ate it while the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ was watching me, and he did not forbid me.'
