حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا حَرِيزُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي عَوْفٍ الْجُرَشِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي هِنْدٍ الْبَجَلِيِّ قَالَ كُنَّا عِنْدَ مُعَاوِيَةَ وَهُوَ عَلَى سَرِيرِهِ وَقَدْ غَمَّضَ عَيْنَيْهِ فَتَذَاكَرْنَا الْهِجْرَةَ وَالْقَائِلُ مِنَّا يَقُولُ انْقَطَعَتْ وَالْقَائِلُ مِنَّا يَقُولُ
لَمْ تَنْقَطِعْ فَاسْتَنْبَهَ مُعَاوِيَةُ فَقَالَ مَا كُنْتُمْ فِيهِ فَأَخْبَرْنَاهُ وَكَانَ قَلِيلَ الرَّدِّ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ تَذَاكَرْنَا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ لَا تَنْقَطِعُ الْهِجْرَةُ حَتَّى تَنْقَطِعَ التَّوْبَةُ وَلَا تَنْقَطِعُ التَّوْبَةُ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ مِنْ مَغْرِبِهَا

English Translation
Abū Hind al-Bajalī narrated: We were with Muʿāwiyah while he was on his couch with his eyes closed. We were discussing hijrah [migration]. Some of us said it has ended, and others said it has not. Muʿāwiyah stirred and said: 'What were you discussing?' We told him. He used to narrate little from the Prophet ﷺ, and said: 'We discussed this in the presence of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ, and he said: Hijrah does not cease until repentance ceases. And repentance does not cease until the sun rises from the west.'
