قَالَ وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ النَّاسُ تَبَعٌ لِقُرَيْشٍ فِي هَذَا الْأَمْرِ خِيَارُهُمْ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ خِيَارُهُمْ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ إِذَا فَقِهُوا وَاللَّهِ لَوْلَا أَنْ تَبْطَرَ قُرَيْشٌ لَأَخْبَرْتُهَا مَا لِخِيَارِهَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ
English Translation
And the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: 'People are followers of Quraysh in this matter [leadership]. The best of them in the Jāhiliyyah are the best of them in Islam, if they gain understanding. By Allāh, were it not that Quraysh would become arrogant, I would have told them what their best ones have with Allāh عز وجل.'
