حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُ
و عَمَّارٍ شَدَّادٌ عَنْ وَاثِلَةَ بْنِ الْأَسْقَعِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ اصْطَفَى كِنَانَةَ مِنْ بَنِي إِسْمَاعِيلَ وَاصْطَفَى مِنْ بَنِي كِنَانَةَ قُرَيْشًا وَاصْطَفَى مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ بَنِي هَاشِمٍ وَاصْطَفَانِي مِنْ بَنِي هَاشِمٍ

English Translation
Abū al-Mughīrah narrated to us, he said: al-Awzāʿī narrated to us, he said: Abū ʿAmmār Shaddād narrated to me, from Wāthilah ibn al-Asqaʿ who said: The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: "Allāh chose Kinānah from the descendants of Ismāʿīl, and He chose Quraysh from the descendants of Kinānah, and He chose Banū Hāshim from Quraysh, and He chose me from Banū Hāshim."
