حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ وَعُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ عَنْ صَالِحٍ قَالَ عُثْمَانُ مَوْلَى التَّوْأَمَةِ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ قَالَ كُنَّا نُصَ

لِّي مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَغْرِبَ وَنَنْصَرِفُ إِلَى السُّوقِ وَلَوْ رَمَى أَحَدُنَا بِالنَّبْلِ قَالَ عُثْمَانُ رَمَى بِنَبْلٍ لَأَبْصَرَ مَوَاقِعَهَا

English Translation

Ḥajjāj and ʿUthmān ibn ʿUmar narrated to us, they said: Ibn Abī Dhiʾb narrated to us, from Ṣāliḥ — ʿUthmān said: the freedman of al-Tawʾamah — from Zayd ibn Khālid al-Juhanī who said: We used to pray Maghrib with the Prophet ﷺ, then leave to the marketplace, and if one of us had shot an arrow — ʿUthmān said: if he had shot arrows — he could still see where they landed.
