حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا فُلَيْحٌ عَنْ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ قَالَ خَطَبَ مَ
رْوَانُ النَّاسَ فَذَكَرَ مَكَّةَ وَحُرْمَتَهَا فَنَادَاهُ رَافِعُ بْنُ خَدِيجٍ فَقَالَ إِنَّ مَكَّةَ إِنْ تَكُنْ حَرَمًا فَإِنَّ الْمَدِينَةَ حَرَمٌ حَرَّمَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ مَكْتُوبٌ عِنْدَنَا فِي أَدِيمٍ خَوْلَانِيٍّ إِنْ شِئْتَ أَنْ نُقْرِئَكَهُ فَعَلْنَا فَنَادَاهُ مَرْوَانُ أَجَلْ قَدْ بَلَغَنَا ذَلِكَ

English Translation
Surayj narrated to us: Fulayḥ narrated to us, from ʿUtbah ibn Muslim, from Nāfiʿ ibn Jubayr, he said: Marwān addressed the people and mentioned Makkah and its sanctity. Rāfiʿ ibn Khadīj called out to him and said: 'If Makkah is a sanctuary, then al-Madīnah is a sanctuary — the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sanctified it, and it is written with us on a Khawlānī leather parchment. If you wish, we can show it to you.' Marwān called to him: 'Yes, we have heard of that.'
