حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَّامٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَزْرَقِ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ
سَلَّمَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يُدْخِلُ الثَّلَاثَةَ بِالسَّهْمِ الْوَاحِدِ الْجَنَّةَ صَانِعَهُ يَحْتَسِبُ فِي صَنْعَتِهِ الْخَيْرَ وَالْمُمِدَّ بِهِ وَالرَّامِيَ بِهِ وَقَالَ ارْمُوا وَارْكَبُوا وَأَنْ تَرْمُوا أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ تَرْكَبُوا وَإِنَّ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ يَلْهُو بِهِ الرَّجُلُ بَاطِلٌ إِلَّا رَمْيَةَ الرَّجُلِ بِقَوْسِهِ وَتَأْدِيبَهُ فَرَسَهُ وَمُلَاعَبَتَهُ امْرَأَتَهُ فَإِنَّهُنَّ مِنْ الْحَقِّ وَمَنْ نَسِيَ الرَّمْيَ بَعْدَمَا عُلِّمَهُ فَقَدْ كَفَرَ الَّذِي عُلِّمَهُ

English Translation
Ismāʿīl ibn Ibrāhīm narrated to us: Hishām narrated to us, from Yaḥyā ibn Abī Kathīr, he said: Abū Sallām narrated to us, from ʿAbdullāh al-Azraq, from ʿUqbah ibn ʿĀmir al-Juhanī, he said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Indeed, Allah عز وجل admits three people into Paradise by a single arrow: its maker who intends good in its making, the one who hands it over, and the one who shoots it.' And he said: 'Shoot and ride, and that you shoot is more beloved to me than that you ride. Everything a man amuses himself with is falsehood except a man's shooting with his bow, his training of his horse, and his playing with his wife — for these are from the truth. Whoever abandons archery after having been taught it has been ungrateful for what he was taught.'
