حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ سَلَّامٍ عَنْ عَب

ْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ الْأَزْرَقِ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَيْرَتَانِ إِحْدَاهُمَا يُحِبُّهَا اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَالْأُخْرَى يُبْغِضُهَا اللَّهُ وَمَخِيلَتَانِ إِحْدَاهُمَا يُحِبُّهَا اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَالْأُخْرَى يُبْغِضُهَا اللَّهُ الْغَيْرَةُ فِي الرَّمْيَةِ يُحِبُّهَا اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَالْغَيْرَةُ فِي غَيْرِهِ يُبْغِضُهَا اللَّهُ وَالْمَخِيلَةُ إِذَا تَصَدَّقَ الرَّجُلُ يُحِبُّهَا اللَّهُ وَالْمَخِيلَةُ فِي الْكِبْرِ يُبْغِضُهَا اللَّهُ

English Translation

ʿUqbah ibn ʿĀmir al-Juhanī narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "There are two types of jealousy (ghayrah): one of them Allah loves and the other He hates. And two types of pride (makhīlah): one of them Allah عز وجل loves and the other He hates. The jealousy in a situation of suspicion (rīmyah) Allah عز وجل loves, and jealousy in other than that He hates. The pride when a man gives charity Allah loves, and pride in arrogance Allah hates."
