حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُشَّانَةَ حَيُّ بْنُ يُؤْمِنَ الْمَعَافِرِيُّ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عُقْبَةَ بْنَ عَامِرٍ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ تَدْنُو الشَّمْسُ مِنْ الْأَرْضِ فَيَعْرَقُ النَّاسُ فَمِنْ النَّاسِ مَنْ يَبْلُغُ عَرَقُهُ عَقِبَيْهِ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَبْلُغُ إِلَى نِصْفِ السَّاقِ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَبْلُغُ إِلَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَبْلُغُ الْعَجُزَ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَبْلُغُ الْخَاصِرَةَ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَبْلُغُ مَنْكِبَيْهِ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَبْلُغُ عُنُقَهُ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَبْلُغُ وَسَطَ فِيهِ وَأَشَارَ بِيَدِهِ فَأَلْجَمَهَا فَاهُ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُشِيرُ هَكَذَا وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يُغَطِّيهِ عَرَقُهُ وَضَرَبَ بِيَدِهِ إِشَارَةً
English Translation
ʿUqbah ibn ʿĀmir narrated: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "The sun will draw near to the earth and people will sweat. Among the people are those whose sweat reaches their heels, among them those it reaches to mid-shin, among them to the knees, among them to the buttocks, among them to the waist, among them to the shoulders, among them to the neck, and among them to the middle of the mouth" — and he pointed with his hand, bridling his mouth — "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gesturing like this. And among them are those whom their sweat completely covers" — and he struck his hand in a gesture.
