Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ
سَتُفْتَحُ عَلَيْكُمْ الشَّامُ فَإِذَا خُيِّرْتُمْ الْمَنَازِلَ فِيهَا فَعَلَيْكُمْ بِمَدِينَةٍ يُقَالُ لَهَا دِمَشْقُ فَإِنَّهَا مَعْقِلُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ مِنْ الْمَلَاحِمِ وَفُسْطَاطُهَا مِنْهَا بِأَرْضٍ يُقَالُ لَهَا الْغُوطَةُ

English Translation
A man from the Companions of Muḥammad ﷺ narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Al-Shām will be conquered for you. When you are given the choice of dwellings therein, choose a city called Damascus, for it is the stronghold of the Muslims against the great battles (malāḥim), and its encampment is in a land called al-Ghūṭah."
