حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نَاسِجٍ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ وَكَانَ قَدْ أَدْرَكَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا فَمَنْ دُونَهُمَا عَنْ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ ع
َبْدٍ السُّلَمِيِّ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ قُومُوا فَقَاتِلُوا قَالُوا نَعَمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَلَا نَقُولُ كَمَا قَالَتْ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ لِمُوسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام انْطَلِقْ أَنْتَ وَرَبُّكَ فَقَاتِلَا إِنَّا هَاهُنَا قَاعِدُونَ وَلَكِنْ انْطَلِقْ أَنْتَ وَرَبُّكَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ فَقَاتِلَا وَإِنَّا مَعَكُمَا نُقَاتِلُ

English Translation
Hishām ibn Saʿīd narrated to us, Ḥasan ibn Ayyūb al-Ḥaḍramī narrated to us, ʿAbdullāh ibn Nāsij al-Ḥaḍramī narrated to me — and he had met Abū Bakr and ʿUmar رضي الله عنهما and those after them — from ʿUtbah ibn ʿAbd al-Sulamī: that the Prophet ﷺ said to his Companions, 'Rise and fight.' They said, 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah, and we will not say as the Children of Israel said to Mūsā عليه السلام: "Go, you and your Lord, and fight. We are sitting right here." Rather, go, you and your Lord, O Muḥammad, and fight, and we are with you both, fighting.'
