English Translation
ʿAbd al-Razzāq narrated to us, Maʿmar narrated to us, from Ayyūb, from Abū Qilābah, from Abū al-Ashʿath, from Shaddād ibn Aws رضي الله عنه, who said: I memorized two things from the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ. He said: "Indeed, Allāh عز وجل has prescribed excellence (iḥsān) in all things. So when you kill, kill well; and when you slaughter, slaughter well. Let each of you sharpen his blade, then let him give comfort to his animal being slaughtered."
