حَدَّثَنَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ عَ

نْ ضَمْضَمِ بْنِ زُرْعَةَ عَنْ شُرَيْحِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ قَالَ كَانَ عُتْبَةُ يَقُولُ عِرْبَاضٌ خَيْرٌ مِنِّي وَعِرْبَاضٌ يَقُولُ عُتْبَةُ خَيْرٌ مِنِّي سَبَقَنِي إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِسَنَةٍ

English Translation
Al-Ḥakam ibn Nāfiʿ narrated to us, Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAyyāsh narrated to us, from Ḍamḍam ibn Zurʿah, from Shurayḥ ibn ʿUbayd who said: ʿUtbah used to say, 'ʿIrbāḍ is better than me,' and ʿIrbāḍ used to say, 'ʿUtbah is better than me — he preceded me to the Prophet ﷺ by a year.'
