English Translation
Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar narrated to us saying: Shuʿbah narrated to us, from Khālid, from Abū Qilābah, from Abū al-Ashʿath, from Shaddād ibn Aws رضي الله عنه, who said: There are two things I memorized from the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ. He said: "Indeed, Allāh has prescribed excellence (iḥsān) in all things. So when you kill, kill well; and when you slaughter, slaughter well. Let each of you sharpen his blade and give comfort to his animal being slaughtered."
