حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عَدِيُّ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ زَيْدَ بْنَ وَهْبٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ ثَابِتِ ابْنِ وَدِيعَةَ قَالَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِل
َى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِضِبَابٍ قَدْ احْتَرَشَهَا قَالَ فَجَعَلَ يَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ وَيُقَلِّبُهُ وَقَالَ إِنَّ أُمَّةً مُسِخَتْ فَلَا يُدْرَى مَا فَعَلَتْ وَإِنِّي لَا أَدْرِي لَعَلَّ هَذَا مِنْهَا

English Translation
Thābit ibn Wadīʿah رضي الله عنه narrated: A man came to the Prophet ﷺ with lizards he had hunted. He kept looking at them and turning them over, then said: "Indeed, a nation was transformed, and it is not known what became of them. I do not know — perhaps this is from them."
