English Translation
Thābit ibn Yazīd ibn Wadāʿah al-Anṣārī رضي الله عنه narrated: We hunted lizards while we were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on one of his expeditions. The people cooked and roasted them. I took a lizard, roasted it, and brought it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He placed it before him, then took a stick and began turning it over with his fingers — or counting them. Then he said: "Indeed, a nation from the Children of Israel was transformed into creatures on the earth, and I do not know which creatures they are." I said: "The people have cooked and roasted them." He said: He did not eat from it nor did he prohibit them from it.
