English Translation
Yazīd ibn Hārūn narrated to us, al-Masʿūdī informed us, from Ismāʿīl ibn Awsaṭ, from Muḥammad ibn Abī Kabshah al-Anmārī, from his father, who said: During the expedition of Tabūk, people rushed to enter upon the people of al-Ḥijr. When this reached the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ, he called out to the people: 'The prayer is a congregational gathering!' He said: So I came to the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ while he was holding his camel, and he was saying: 'Why do you enter upon a people whom Allāh was angry with?' A man among them called out: 'We are amazed by them, O Messenger of Allāh!' He said: 'Shall I not inform you of something more amazing than that? A man from among yourselves who tells you of what came before you and what will come after you. So be upright and be balanced, for Allāh عز وجل does not care about your punishment at all. And there will come a people who will not be able to defend themselves with anything.' Hāshim ibn al-Qāsim narrated to us, al-Masʿūdī narrated to us, from Muḥammad ibn Abī Kabshah al-Anmārī, from his father, who said: During the expedition of Tabūk, people rushed to the people of al-Ḥijr, entering upon them — and he mentioned its meaning.
