حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عَقِيلٍ زُهْرَةُ بْنُ مَعْبَدٍ التَّيْمِيُّ عَنْ جَدِّهِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ وَكَانَ قَدْ أَدْرَكَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ
عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَذَهَبَتْ بِهِ أُمُّهُ زَيْنَبُ ابْنَةُ حُمَيْدٍ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ بَايِعْهُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هُوَ صَغِيرٌ فَمَسَحَ رَأْسَهُ وَدَعَا لَهُ وَكَانَ يُضَحِّي بِالشَّاةِ الْوَاحِدَةِ عَنْ جَمِيعِ أَهْلِهِ

English Translation
ʿAbdullāh ibn Yazīd narrated to us, Saʿīd — meaning Ibn Abī Ayyūb — narrated to us, Abū ʿAqīl Zuhrah ibn Maʿbad al-Taymī narrated to me, from his grandfather ʿAbdullāh ibn Hishām — who had met the Prophet ﷺ, and his mother Zaynab bint Ḥumayd had taken him to the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ and said: 'O Messenger of Allāh, take his pledge of allegiance.' the Prophet ﷺ said: 'He is too young.' So he wiped his head and supplicated for him. And he used to sacrifice a single sheep on behalf of his entire family.
