Hadith #334

English Translation

And he (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that 'I heard the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ saying — and a man came to him and said: "Ask Allāh for rain for Muḍar." He said: "You are bold indeed! For Muḍar?" He said: "O Messenger of Allāh, you sought victory from Allāh عز وجل and He granted you victory, and you supplicated to Allāh عز وجل and He answered you."' So the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ raised his hands and said: 'O Allāh, give us rain — beneficial, productive, nourishing, abundant, plentiful, swift and not delayed, helpful and not harmful.' He said: So they were revived. It was not long before they came to him complaining of too much rain, saying: 'The houses are collapsing.' He raised his hands and said: 'O Allāh, around us and not upon us.' The clouds began breaking up to the right and left.
