English Translation

He (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that i read to ʿAbd al-Raḥmān: Mālik, from Ibn Shihāb, from ʿAbbād ibn Ziyād, from a descendant of al-Mughīrah ibn Shuʿbah, from his father al-Mughīrah ibn Shuʿbah: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went to relieve himself during the expedition of Tabūk. al-Mughīrah said: I went with him carrying water. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came and I poured water for him. He washed his face, then went to pull his hands out from the sleeve of his cloak but could not due to the tightness of the cloak's sleeves, so he pulled them out from underneath his cloak. He washed his hands, wiped his head, and wiped over the leather socks. Then the Prophet ﷺ came and ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAwf was leading them in prayer, having already prayed one rakʿah with them. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed with them the remaining rakʿah. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished, he said: 'Well done.' — ʿAbdullāh narrated to us, Muṣʿab ibn ʿAbdullāh al-Zubayrī narrated to us, Mālik ibn Anas narrated to me, from Ibn Shihāb, from ʿAbbād ibn Ziyād, from the descendants of al-Mughīrah ibn Shuʿbah — and he mentioned this ḥadīth. Muṣʿab said: Mālik made an ugly error in it.
