حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَبْدَةَ وَعَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ سَمِعَا وَرَّادًا كَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ يَعْنِي الْمُغِيرَةَ كَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ مُعَاوِيَةُ اكْتُبْ إِلَيَّ بِشَيْءٍ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ يَعْنِي الْمُغِيرَةَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقُولُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
English Translation
Sufyān narrated to us, from ʿAbdah and ʿAbd al-Malik, both of whom heard Warrād: al-Mughīrah wrote to Muʿāwiyah — Muʿāwiyah had written to him: 'Write to me something you heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.' So al-Mughīrah wrote to him: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say: 'Lā ilāha illallāh, waḥdahu lā sharīka lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-ḥamd, wa huwa ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīr.'
