English Translation

Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar narrated to us, Shuʿbah narrated to us, he said: I heard Khālid narrating from Yazīd ibn ʿAbdullāh ibn al-Shikhkhīr, from Muṭarrif ibn al-Shikhkhīr, from ʿIyāḍ ibn Ḥimār رضي الله عنه, from the Prophet ﷺ who said: 'Whoever picks up a lost item, let him have two just witnesses — or one just witness' — Khālid was uncertain — 'and let him not conceal or hide it. If its owner comes, he has more right to it. Otherwise, it is the wealth of Allah — He gives it to whom He wills.' He said: I heard Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd saying: Muṭarrif was twenty years older than al-Ḥasan, and Abū al-ʿAlāʾ was ten years older than al-Ḥasan. A brother of Abū Bakr ibn al-Aswad narrated it to me from Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd, from Abū ʿAqīl al-Dawraqī, with this.
