حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ عَن الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ قَالَ كُنْتُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ ادْعُوا إِلَيَّ زَيْدًا يَجِيءُ أَوْ يَأْتِي بِالْكَتِفِ وَالدَّوَاةِ أَوْ اللَّوْحِ وَالدَّوَاةِ كَتَبَ لَا يَسْتَو
ِي الْقَاعِدُونَ مِنْ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُجَاهِدُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ قَالَ هَكَذَا نَزَلَتْ قَالَ فَقَالَ ابْنُ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ وَهُوَ خَلْفَ ظَهْرِهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ بِعَيْنَيَّ ضَرَرًا قَالَ فَنَزَلَتْ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَبْرَحَ { غَيْرُ أُولِي الضَّرَرِ }

English Translation
Hāshim ibn al-Qāsim narrated from Zuhayr, from Abū Isḥāq, from al-Barāʾ ibn ʿĀzib, who said: 'I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he said: "Call Zayd for me — let him come with the shoulder-blade and the inkwell" — or: "the tablet and the inkwell." He wrote: "Not equal are those believers who sit [at home] and those who strive in the cause of Allah" [4:95]. Thus it was revealed. Then Ibn Umm Maktūm, who was behind him, said: "O Messenger of Allah, indeed my eyes have a disability." So [the exception] was revealed before he left his place: "other than those who possess a disability" [4:95].'
