حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَوْنِ بْنِ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ بِلَالًا يُؤَذِّنُ وَيَدُورُ وَأَتَتَبَّعُ فَاهُ هَاهُنَا وَأُصْبُعَاهُ فِي أُذُنَيْهِ قَالَ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي قُبَّةٍ لَهُ حَمْرَاءَ أُرَاهَا مِنْ أَدَمٍ قَالَ فَخَرَجَ بِلَالٌ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ بِالْعَنَزَةِ فَرَكَزَه
َا فَصَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ وَسَمِعْتُهُ بِمَكَّةَ قَالَ بِالْبَطْحَاءِ يَمُرُّ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ الْكَلْبُ وَالْمَرْأَةُ وَالْحِمَارُ وَعَلَيْهِ حُلَّةٌ حَمْرَاءُ كَأَنِّي أَنْظُرُ إِلَى بَرِيقِ سَاقَيْهِ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ نُرَاهَا حِبَرَةً

English Translation
ʿAbd al-Razzāq narrated from Sufyān, from ʿAwn ibn Abī Juḥayfah, from his father, who said: 'I saw Bilāl giving the adhān, turning around, and I was following his mouth this way and that, with his two fingers in his ears. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was in a red tent of his — I think it was of leather.' He said: 'Then Bilāl went out before him with the short spear (ʿanazah) and planted it. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed.' ʿAbd al-Razzāq said: 'I heard him in Makkah say: at al-Baṭḥāʾ. Dogs, women, and donkeys would pass before him. He was wearing a red garment, and it was as if I can see the gleam of his shins.' Sufyān said: 'We think it was a striped Yemeni garment (ḥibarah).'
