English Translation
Wakīʿ narrated from Sufyān — ʿAwn ibn Abī Juḥayfah narrated to me — from his father, who said: 'I came to the Prophet ﷺ at al-Abṭaḥ while he was in a red tent of his. Bilāl came out with the leftover ablution water, and some people were sprinkling it [on themselves] while others were taking [drops]. Then Bilāl gave the adhān, and I followed his mouth this way and that — meaning right and left. Then a short spear (ʿanazah) was planted for him. the Prophet ﷺ came out wearing a red cloak — or a red garment — and it was as if I can see the gleam of his shins. He prayed with us toward the short spear the Ẓuhr — or the ʿAṣr — two rakʿahs, with women, dogs, and donkeys passing [behind it] unhindered. Then he continued praying two rakʿahs [for each prayer] until he reached Madinah.' Wakīʿ said on another occasion: 'He prayed the Ẓuhr two rakʿahs and the ʿAṣr two rakʿahs.'
