حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ وَحَجَّاجٌ أَخْبَرَنِي شُعْبَةُ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا جُحَيْفَةَ قَالَ خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالْمُهَاجِرَةِ إِلَى الْبَطْحَاءِ فَتَوَضَّأَ وَصَلَّى الظُّهْرَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَالْعَصْرَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَبَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ عَ
نَزَةٌ وَزَادَ فِيهِ عَوْنٌ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ وَكَانَ يَمُرُّ مِنْ وَرَائِهَا الْحِمَارُ وَالْمَرْأَةُ قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ فِي الْحَدِيثِ ثُمَّ قَامَ النَّاسُ فَجَعَلُوا يَأْخُذُونَ يَدَهُ فَيَمْسَحُونَ بِهَا وُجُوهَهُمْ قَالَ فَأَخَذْتُ يَدَهُ فَوَضَعْتُهَا عَلَى وَجْهِي فَإِذَا هِيَ أَبْرَدُ مِنْ الثَّلْجِ وَأَطْيَبُ رِيحًا مِنْ الْمِسْكِ

English Translation
Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar narrated from Shuʿbah — and Ḥajjāj said: Shuʿbah informed me — from al-Ḥakam, who said: I heard Abū Juḥayfah say: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out at midday to al-Baṭḥāʾ. He performed ablution and prayed the Ẓuhr two rakʿahs and the ʿAṣr two rakʿahs, with a short spear (ʿanazah) before him.' ʿAwn added from his father Abū Juḥayfah: 'Donkeys and women would pass behind it.' Ḥajjāj said in the hadith: 'Then the people stood and began taking his hand and wiping it on their faces. I took his hand and placed it on my face, and it was cooler than snow and more fragrant than musk.'
