حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ وَابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَا ثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى قَالَ ابْنُ
جَعْفَرٍ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُكَيْمٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ قَالَ أَتَانَا كِتَابُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَنَحْنُ بِأَرْضِ جُهَيْنَةَ وَأَنَا غُلَامٌ شَابٌّ أَنْ لَا تَنْتَفِعُوا مِنْ الْمَيْتَةِ بِإِهَابٍ وَلَا عَصَبٍ

English Translation
Wakīʿ and Ibn Jaʿfar narrated from Shuʿbah, from al-Ḥakam, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī Laylā — Ibn Jaʿfar said: I heard Ibn Abī Laylā — from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUkaym al-Juhanī, who said: 'The letter of the Prophet ﷺ came to us while we were in the land of Juhaynah — and I was a young lad — that: "Do not make use of anything from a dead animal, neither its hide nor its sinew."'
