حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ عَنْ عَرْفَجَةَ قَالَ كُنْتُ فِي بَيْتٍ فِيهِ عُتْبَةُ بْنُ فَرْقَدٍ فَأَرَدْتُ أَنْ أُحَدِّثَ بِحَدِيثٍ قَالَ فَكَانَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُ
ولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَأَنَّهُ أَوْلَى بِالْحَدِيثِ مِنْهُ قَالَ فَحَدَّثَ الرَّجُلُ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِي رَمَضَانَ تُفَتَّحُ أَبْوَابُ السَّمَاءِ وَتُغَلَّقُ أَبْوَابُ النَّارِ وَيُصَفَّدُ فِيهِ كُلُّ شَيْطَانٍ مَرِيدٍ وَيُنَادِي مُنَادٍ كُلَّ لَيْلَةٍ يَا طَالِبَ الْخَيْرِ هَلُمَّ وَيَا طَالِبَ الشَّرِّ أَمْسِكْ

English Translation
Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar narrated from Shuʿbah, from ʿAṭāʾ ibn al-Sāʾib, from ʿArfajah, who said: 'I was in a house where ʿUtbah ibn Farqad was, and I wanted to narrate a hadith. But there was a man from among the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who was more entitled to narrate it than me. So the man narrated from the Prophet ﷺ that he said: "In Ramaḍān, the gates of heaven are opened and the gates of the Fire are closed, and every rebellious devil is chained. And a caller calls every night: O seeker of good, come forth! O seeker of evil, desist!"'
