Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ وَائِلٍ عَنْ وَائِلِ بْنِ حُجْرٍ قَالَ كُنْتُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَتَاهُ رَجُلَانِ يَخْتَصِمَانِ فِي أَرْضٍ فَقَالَ أَحَدُهُمَا إِنَّ هَذَا انْتَزَى عَلَى أَرْضِي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ
وَهُوَ امْرُؤُ الْقَيْسِ بْنُ عَابِسٍ الْكِنْدِيُّ وَخَصْمُهُ رَبِيعَةُ بْنُ عَبْدَانَ فَقَالَ لَهُ بَيِّنَتُكَ قَالَ لَيْسَ لِي بَيِّنَةٌ قَالَ يَمِينُهُ قَالَ إِذًا يَذْهَبُ قَالَ لَيْسَ لَكَ إِلَّا ذَلِكَ قَالَ فَلَمَّا قَامَ لِيَحْلِفَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ اقْتَطَعَ أَرْضًا ظَالِمًا لَقِيَ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَهُوَ عَلَيْهِ غَضْبَانُ

English Translation
Hishām ibn ʿAbd al-Malik narrated to us, Abū ʿAwānah informed us, from ʿAbd al-Malik, from ʿAlqamah ibn Wāʾil, from Wāʾil ibn Ḥujr who said: I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when two men came to him disputing over a piece of land. One of them said: 'This one seized my land, O Messenger of Allah, during the Jāhiliyyah.' He was Imruʾ al-Qays ibn ʿĀbis al-Kindī, and his opponent was Rabīʿah ibn ʿAbdān. He said to him: 'Do you have evidence?' He said: 'I have no evidence.' He said: 'Then his oath.' He said: 'Then he will take it [unjustly].' He said: 'You have nothing else but that.' When the man stood to swear, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever seizes a piece of land unjustly will meet Allah عز وجل on the Day of Resurrection while He is angry with him.'
