English Translation

ʿAffān narrated to us, Hammām narrated to us, Muḥammad ibn Juḥādah narrated to us who said: ʿAbd al-Jabbār ibn Wāʾil narrated to me, from ʿAlqamah ibn Wāʾil and a freed slave of theirs, both of whom narrated to him from his father Wāʾil ibn Ḥujr, that he saw the Prophet ﷺ raise his hands when he entered the prayer and pronounced the takbīr — Hammām described: level with his ears — then he wrapped himself in his garment, then placed his right hand over the left. When he intended to bow, he brought his hands out from the garment, then raised them and pronounced the takbīr, then bowed. When he said: 'Allah hears the one who praises Him,' he raised his hands. When he prostrated, he prostrated between his palms.
