English Translation
ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Mahdī narrated to us, from Muʿāwiyah — meaning Ibn Ṣāliḥ — from al-ʿAlāʾ — meaning Ibn al-Ḥārith — from Ḥarām ibn Ḥakīm, from his uncle ʿAbd Allāh ibn Saʿd رضي الله عنه, that he asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about what necessitates ghusl, and about the fluid that comes after urine, and about praying in his house versus praying in the mosque, and about eating with a menstruating woman. He ﷺ said, 'Indeed, Allah عز وجل is not shy of the truth. As for me, when I do such-and-such' — and he described the ghusl — he said, 'I perform ablution as I would for prayer, I wash my private parts, then' — he described the ghusl. 'As for the fluid that comes after urine, that is madhī (pre-seminal fluid), and every male produces madhī, so I wash my private parts from it and perform ablution. As for praying in the mosque versus praying in my house, you can see how close my house is to the mosque, yet for me to pray in my house is more beloved to me than to pray in the mosque, except for the obligatory prayer. As for eating with a menstruating woman, then eat with her.'
