حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ وَبَهْزٌ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ حَبِيبٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْمِنْهَالِ رَجُلًا مِنْ بَنِي كِنَانَةَ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ الْبَرَاءَ بْنَ عَازِبٍ عَنْ الصَّرْفِ فَقَالَ
سَلْ زَيْدَ بْنَ أَرْقَمَ فَإِنَّهُ خَيْرٌ مِنِّي وَأَعْلَمُ قَالَ فَسَأَلْتُ زَيْدًا فَقَالَ سَلْ الْبَرَاءَ فَإِنَّهُ خَيْرٌ مِنِّي وَأَعْلَمُ قَالَ فَقَالَا جَمِيعًا نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ بَيْعِ الْوَرِقِ بِالذَّهَبِ دَيْنًا

English Translation
Al-Barāʾ ibn ʿĀzib and Zayd ibn Arqam narrated: I asked al-Barāʾ about currency exchange and he said: 'Ask Zayd, for he is better and more knowledgeable than I.' So I asked Zayd and he said: 'Ask al-Barāʾ, for he is better and more knowledgeable than I.' They both said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited selling silver for gold on credit.'
