حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ وَإِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عُمَرَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ قَالَ أَصَابَنِي رَمَدٌ فَعَادَنِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ فَلَمَّا بَرَأْتُ خَرَجْتُ قَالَ فَقَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَرَأَيْتَ لَوْ
كَانَتْ عَيْنَاكَ لِمَا بِهِمَا مَا كُنْتَ صَانِعًا قَالَ قُلْتُ لَوْ كَانَتَا عَيْنَايَ لِمَا بِهِمَا صَبَرْتُ وَاحْتَسَبْتُ قَالَ لَوْ كَانَتْ عَيْنَاكَ لِمَا بِهِمَا ثُمَّ صَبَرْتَ وَاحْتَسَبْتَ لَلَقِيتَ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَلَا ذَنْبَ لَكَ قَالَ إِسْمَاعِيلُ ثُمَّ صَبَرْتَ وَاحْتَسَبْتَ لَأَوْجَبَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى لَكَ الْجَنَّةَ

English Translation
Zayd ibn Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that i was afflicted with an eye disease, and the Prophet ﷺ visited me. When I recovered and went out, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: 'Tell me, if your eyes had remained as they were, what would you have done?' I said: 'If my eyes had remained as they were, I would have been patient and sought reward.' He said: 'If your eyes had remained as they were, and then you were patient and sought reward, you would have met Allah عز وجل with no sin upon you.'
