حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي التَّيَّاحِ حَدَّثَنِي رَجُلٌ أَسْوَدُ طَوِيلٌ قَالَ جَعَلَ أَبُو التَّيَّاحِ يَنْعَتُهُ أَنَّهُ قَدِمَ مَعَ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ الْبَصْرَةَ فَكَتَبَ إِلَى أَبِي مُوسَى فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ أَبُو مُوسَى أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَي
ْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَمْشِي فَمَالَ إِلَى دَمْثٍ فِي جَنْبِ حَائِطٍ فَبَالَ ثُمَّ قَالَ كَانَ بَنَو إِسْرَائِيلَ إِذَا بَالَ أَحَدُهُمْ فَأَصَابَهُ شَيْءٌ مِنْ بَوْلِهِ يَتْبَعُهُ فَقَرَضَهُ بِالْمَقَارِيضِ وَقَالَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَبُولَ فَلْيَرْتَدْ لِبَوْلِهِ

English Translation
Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar narrated to us, Shuʿbah narrated to us, from Abū al-Tayyāḥ, [who said:] a tall, dark man narrated to me — Abū al-Tayyāḥ described him — that he came with Ibn ʿAbbās to Basra, and [Ibn ʿAbbās] wrote to Abū Mūsā. Abū Mūsā wrote back to him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was walking and leaned toward soft ground beside a wall and urinated. Then he said: 'The Children of Israel, when one of them urinated and some of it got on him, would follow it and cut it out with scissors.' And he said: 'When one of you needs to urinate, let him find a suitable place for his urination.'
