English Translation

Ismāʿīl narrated to us, from Yūnus, from al-Ḥasan, that a brother of Abū Mūsā was hasty in getting involved in the fitnah. Abū Mūsā kept forbidding him but he would not desist. So he said: 'I thought that a little would suffice you from me — or he said: from admonition — rather than what I now see. Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: When two Muslims face each other with their swords and one of them kills the other, then both the killer and the killed are in the Fire.' They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, this is the killer, but what about the killed?' He said: 'He intended to kill his companion.'
