حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ أَنَّ أَبَا مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيَّ كَانَ لَهُ أَخٌ يُقَالُ لَ
هُ أَبُو رُهْمٍ وَكَانَ يَتَسَرَّعُ فِي الْفِتْنَةِ وَكَانَ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ يَكْرَهُ الْفِتْنَةَ فَقَالَ لَهُ لَوْلَا مَا أَبْلَغْتَ إِلَيَّ مَا حَدَّثْتُكَ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمَيْنِ الْتَقَيَا بِسَيْفَيْهِمَا فَقَتَلَ أَحَدُهُمَا الْآخَرَ إِلَّا دَخَلَا جَمِيعًا النَّارَ

English Translation
ʿAffān narrated to us, Hammām narrated to us, from Qatādah, al-Ḥasan narrated to us, that Abū Mūsā al-Ashʿarī had a brother called Abū Ruhm who was hasty in getting involved in the fitnah, while al-Ashʿarī detested the fitnah. He said to him: 'Were it not for what you have put me through, I would not have told you. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: No two Muslims meet with their swords and one of them kills the other except that both enter the Fire together.'
