حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَن بُرَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ
عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى رِوَايَةً قَالَ الْمُؤْمِنُ لِلْمُؤْمِنِ كَالْبُنْيَانِ يَشُدُّ بَعْضُهُ بَعْضًا وَمَثَلُ الْجَلِيسِ الصَّالِحِ مَثَلُ الْعَطَّارِ إِنْ لَمْ يُحْذِكَ مِنْ عِطْرِهِ عَلَقَكَ مِنْ رِيحِهِ وَمَثَلُ الْجَلِيسِ السُّوءِ مَثَلُ الْكِيرِ إِنْ لَمْ يُحْرِقْكَ نَالَكَ مِنْ شَرَرِهِ وَالْخَازِنُ الْأَمِينُ الَّذِي يُؤَدِّي مَا أُمِرَ بِهِ مُؤْتَجِرًا أَحَدُ الْمُتَصَدِّقِينَ

English Translation
Sufyān narrated to us, from Burayd ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Burdah, from Abū Burdah, from Abū Mūsā — as a narration (from the Prophet ﷺ) — who said: 'The believer to the believer is like a building, each part strengthens the other. The parable of the righteous companion is like the perfume seller — if he does not give you some of his perfume, you will still be touched by its fragrance. And the parable of the evil companion is like the blacksmith's bellows — if it does not burn you, you will be struck by its sparks. And the trustworthy treasurer who gives what he is ordered to give, doing so willingly, is one of the two givers of charity.'
