Hadith #285

English Translation

ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us, my father narrated to me, Yazīd narrated to us, Hammām informed us. And ʿAffān and ʿAbd al-Ṣamad said: Hammām narrated to us, from Qatādah. ʿAffān said in his hadith: ʿImrān ibn ʿIṣām al-Ḍubaʿī narrated to me. And Yazīd said: from Qatādah, from ʿImrān ibn ʿIṣām, from an elderly man of the people of Basrah, from ʿImrān ibn Ḥuṣayn, from the Prophet ﷺ, regarding the words of Allah عز وجل: {By the even and the odd} — he said: “It is the prayer — some of it is shafʿ (even) and some of it is witr (odd).”
