English Translation

Makkī ibn Ibrāhīm narrated to us, Bahz ibn Ḥakīm informed us, from his father, from his grandfather, who said: Whenever the Prophet ﷺ was brought something, he would ask about it: ‘Is it a gift or charity?’ If they said it was a gift, he would extend his hand [to accept it]. If they said it was charity, he would tell his Companions to eat and would not eat from it himself.
