English Translation

al-Ḥasan ibn Yaḥyā of the people of Marw and ‘Alī ibn Isḥāq narrated to us, both saying: Ibn al-Mubārak informed us, from Wiqā’ ibn Iyās, from ‘Alī ibn Rabī‘ah, from Samurah, who said: the Prophet ﷺ stood and gave a sermon, prohibiting (drinking from) the gourd vessel (dubbā’) and the pitch-coated vessel (muzaffat). (‘Abd Allāh narrated to us, Aḥmad ibn Jamīl narrated to us, Ibn al-Mubārak narrated to us, similarly.) Khalaf ibn Hishām and ‘Abd al-Wāḥid ibn Ghiyāth narrated to us, both saying: Abū ‘Awānah narrated to us, from al-Aswad ibn Qays, from Tha‘labah, from Samurah, from the Prophet ﷺ, similarly.
