حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ التَّيْمِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُتِيَ بِقَصْعَةٍ ف
ِيهَا ثَرِيدٌ فَتَعَاقَبُوهَا إِلَى الظُّهْرِ مِنْ غُدْوَةٍ يَقُومُ نَاسٌ وَيَقْعُدُ آخَرُونَ قَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ هَلْ كَانَتْ تُمَدُّ قَالَ فَمِنْ أَيِّ شَيْءٍ تَعْجَبُ مَا كَانَتْ تُمَدُّ إِلَّا مِنْ هَاهُنَا وَأَشَارَ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ

English Translation
Yazīd ibn Hārūn narrated to us, Sulaymān al-Taymī narrated to us, from Abū al-‘Alā’, from Samurah ibn Jundub: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was brought a bowl of tharīd (bread and meat stew), and people took turns eating from it from the early morning until midday — some leaving and others taking their place. A man asked him: Was it being replenished? He said: Why are you surprised? It was only being replenished from here — and he pointed to the sky.
