حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَبِي الْمِنْهَالِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ الْخُزَاعِيِّ عَنْ عَمِّهِ أَنَّ النَّ

بِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لِأَسْلَمَ صُومُوا الْيَوْمَ فَقَالُوا إِنَّا قَدْ أَكَلْنَا قَالَ صُومُوا بَقِيَّةَ يَوْمِكُمْ يَعْنِي يَوْمَ عَاشُورَاءَ

English Translation
It was narrated from the uncle of 'Abd al-Rahman Abu al-Minhal ibn Salama al-Khuza'i that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to the tribe of Aslam: 'Fast today.' They said: 'We have already eaten.' He said: 'Then fast the remainder of your day' — meaning the day of 'Ashura'.
