English Translation

It was narrated from 'A'idh ibn 'Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that Salman, Suhayb, and Bilal were sitting with a group of people when Abu Sufyan ibn Harb passed by. They said: 'The swords of Allah have not yet taken their due from the neck of the enemy of Allah.' Abu Bakr said to them: 'Do you say this about the elder of Quraysh and its master?' He went and told the Prophet ﷺ, who said: 'O Abu Bakr, perhaps you have angered them. If you have angered them, you have angered your Lord.' He went back to them and said: 'O brothers, have I angered you?' They said: 'No, O Abu Bakr, may Allah forgive you.'
