Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ حَبِيبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَزْدِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الْغِفَارِيِّ قَالَ دَخَلْتُ أَنَا وَأَخِي رَافِعُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو عَلَى أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِي
نَ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ وَأَنَا مَخْضُوبٌ بِالْحِنَّاءِ وَأَخِي مَخْضُوبٌ بِالصُّفْرَةِ فَقَالَ لِي عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ هَذَا خِضَابُ الْإِسْلَامِ وَقَالَ لِأَخِي رَافِعٍ هَذَا خِضَابُ الْإِيمَانِ

English Translation
It was narrated from al-Hakam ibn 'Amr that he and Rafi' ibn 'Amr al-Muzani visited 'Umar ibn al-Khattab, and 'Umar saw that al-Hakam had dyed his beard with henna while Rafi' had dyed his with a yellow dye. 'Umar said: 'This one's dyeing is the dyeing of Islam,' pointing to the red henna, 'and this one's dyeing is the dyeing of faith,' pointing to the yellow.
