حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ حَدَّثَنِي أَيُّوبُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ سَلِمَةَ قَالَ لَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْفَتْحِ جَعَلَ النَّاسُ يَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْنَا قَدْ جَاءُوا مِنْ عِنْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَكُنْتُ أَقْرَأُ وَأَنَا غُلَامٌ فَجَاءَ أَبِي بِإِسْلَامِ قَوْمِهِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّ
هُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَؤُمُّكُمْ أَكْثَرُكُمْ قُرْآنًا فَنَظَرُوا فَكُنْتُ أَكْثَرَهُمْ قُرْآنًا قَالَ فَقَالَتْ امْرَأَةٌ غَطُّوا اسْتَ قَارِئِكُمْ قَالَ فَاشْتَرَوْا لَهُ بُرْدَةً قَالَ فَمَا فَرِحْتُ أَشَدَّ مِنْ فَرَحِي بِذَلِكَ

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Amr ibn Salima (may Allah be pleased with him) that riders used to pass by them going to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he would memorize what they brought back of the Quran. On the day of the conquest, his people said: 'Go out and lead us in prayer.' He was the one with the most Quran among them, so he led them in prayer while he was only a boy of six or seven years.
