Hadith #366
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الْكَرِيمِ عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ مِخْنَفٍ قَالَ انْتَهَيْتُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ
وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ قَالَ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ هَلْ تَعْرِفُونَهَا قَالَ فَمَا أَدْرِي مَا رَجَعُوا عَلَيْهِ قَالَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى كُلِّ بَيْتٍ أَنْ يَذْبَحُوا شَاةً فِي كُلِّ رَجَبٍ وَكُلِّ أَضْحَى شَاةً

English Translation
It was narrated from Habib ibn Mikhnaf (may Allah be pleased with him) that he came to the Prophet ﷺ on the Day of 'Arafa. He was saying: 'Do you know this?' He said: I did not know what they replied. Then the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Upon every household there is an obligation to slaughter a sheep in every Rajab, and a sheep at every Eid al-Adha.'
