Hadith #380
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ أَخْبَرَنَا الْجُرَيْرِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ قَالَ قَالَ رَجُلٌ كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالنَّاسُ يَعْتَقِبُونَ وَفِي الظَّهْرِ قِلَّةٌ فَحَانَتْ نَزْلَةُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَنَزْلَتِي فَلَحِقَنِي مِنْ بَعْدِي فَضَرَبَ مَنْكِبِي فَقَالَ قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَ
بِّ الْفَلَقِ فَقُلْتُ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ فَقَرَأَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَرَأْتُهَا مَعَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ فَقَرَأَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَرَأْتُهَا مَعَهُ فَقَالَ إِذَا صَلَّيْتَ فَاقْرَأْ بِهِمَا
Isnad Chain
English Translation
It was narrated from a man who was traveling with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that when the Prophet's time to dismount came, he caught up to him and struck his shoulder and said: 'Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of the daybreak.' He said it, then: 'Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind.' He said: He recited both to the end, then said: 'Recite these two in your prayer, for no one has sought refuge in anything like them.'
