Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَرْجِسَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَا يَبُولَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي الْجُحْرِ وَإِذَا نِمْتُمْ فَأَطْفِئُوا السِّرَاجَ فَإِنَّ الْفَأْرَةَ تَأْخُذُ الْفَتِيلَ
ةَ فَتَحْرِقُ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَأَوْكِئُوا الْأَسْقِيَةَ وَخَمِّرُوا الشَّرَابَ وَغَلِّقُوا الْأَبْوَابَ بِاللَّيْلِ قَالُوا لِقَتَادَةَ مَا يُكْرَهُ مِنْ الْبَوْلِ فِي الْجُحْرِ قَالَ يُقَالُ إِنَّهَا مَسَاكِنُ الْجِنِّ

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn Sarjis (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Let none of you urinate in a hole. When you sleep, extinguish the lamp, for a mouse may take the wick and set the household on fire. Tie up your waterskins, cover your drinks, close your doors at night.'
