حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ أَتَانِي جِبْ
رِيلُ وَمِيكَائِيلُ عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَام فَقَالَ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام اقْرَأْ الْقُرْآنَ عَلَى حَرْفٍ وَاحِدٍ فَقَالَ مِيكَائِيلُ اسْتَزِدْهُ قَالَ اقْرَأْهُ عَلَى سَبْعَةِ أَحْرُفٍ كُلِّهَا شَافٍ كَافٍ مَا لَمْ تُخْتَمْ آيَةُ رَحْمَةٍ بِعَذَابٍ أَوْ آيَةُ عَذَابٍ بِرَحْمَةٍ

English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Bakra (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Jibreel and Mika'il came to me. Jibreel said: "Recite the Quran in one dialect." Mika'il said: "Ask for more." He said: "Recite it in seven dialects, each of which is sufficient and complete, as long as an ayah of mercy is not ended with punishment or an ayah of punishment with mercy."'
