Hadith #110
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ عَنْ قَيْسٍ عَنْ خَبَّابٍ قَالَ أَتَيْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ فِي ظِلِّ الْكَعْبَةِ مُتَوَسِّدًا بُرْ
دَةً لَهُ فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ادْعُ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى لَنَا وَاسْتَنْصِرْهُ قَالَ فَاحْمَرَّ لَوْنُهُ أَوْ تَغَيَّرَ فَقَالَ لَقَدْ كَانَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ يُحْفَرُ لَهُ حُفْرَةٌ وَيُجَاءُ بِالْمِنْشَارِ فَيُوضَعُ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ فَيُشَقُّ مَا يَصْرِفُهُ عَنْ دِينِهِ وَيُمْشَطُ بِأَمْشَاطِ الْحَدِيدِ مَا دُونَ عَظْمٍ مِنْ لَحْمٍ أَوْ عَصَبٍ مَا يَصْرِفُهُ عَنْ دِينِهِ وَلَيُتِمَّنَّ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى هَذَا الْأَمْرَ حَتَّى يَسِيرَ الرَّاكِبُ مَا بَيْنَ صَنْعَاءَ إِلَى حَضْرَمَوْتَ لَا يَخْشَى إِلَّا اللَّهَ تَعَالَى وَالذِّئْبَ عَلَى غَنَمِهِ وَلَكِنَّكُمْ تَعْجَلُونَ
Isnad Chain
English Translation
It was narrated from Khabbab (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Companions complained to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and asked him to pray to Allah for them and seek His help. His color changed and he said: 'Those before you — a pit would be dug for them and a saw placed on their heads and they would be split in two, yet this would not turn them away from their religion.'
